Looks inviting? now read the reason for todays blog from the land of the Pharaos
Sparrows along the old docks looks idylic doesn't it , the life giving Nile.
This first step from the nile is one meter the highest the Nile will come when the barrage is closed in Quena 45 kilometers towards the mediteranian sea from this point.
looking down from the promenade all these trees will go once the dig starts to take the prom to a lower level.
The only boat in this 3 kilometer stretch is the day cruiser to Quena ( Denderah Temple Cleopatra)
due to the work that has started lowering the promenade by 3 meters all the boats have been moved, those berthed in Luxor waiting for the new berths 4 miles down river towards Aswan. are now pilled up some in berths of 10 vessels. oil is delivered by a vessel tanker. not from the pipes off shore, thus creating more oil spillage in the Nile.
I know I have been on about Nile pollution before the past one year anyway and after seeing these Herons again 23/4/10 and all the pollution in this part of the Nile I am showing more photos, if this bird was found covered in oil like it is in any other part of the world, there would be a full scale inquiry as to what is causing the pollution, but here in Egypt its seems OK to pollute the nile, cause of pollution is on my website http://www.myegypt.co.uk/index.php?f=data_home&a=1 it effects every person that comes here to egypt and every person living from the Nile waters. ie growing crops domestic animals and its wildlife + local drinking water all comes from the polluted Nile,
This is The little white Egret ' that fish near the Nile cruisers
This is the white egret it goes in the water for its food and the reason why this one above is covered in oil.
lovelly isnt it every passenger boarding these boats sees this rubbish today its not to bad no dead animals rotting away so the smell is not noticeable but its still polluted.
most of these plastic bottles have been used for engine top up oil then tossed overboard some are discoloured same as the birds, by just being in the water.
First thing in the mornings we can fullfill a life long dream of going ballooning over the valley of the Kings and the tombs and temples of Thebes. What one these days may call a magical mist-ery tour, mist or rather smoke being the appropriate word. I wonder if we can call it a migical polluted atmosephere tour
it will go better with the theme of this blogspot.
Its a lovely clear day today or rather would be if the fires of the sugar cane fields had not been lit in the night. it must be a different way of making the magic of a balloon ride come to reality. up up and away and into the mist we decend, I wonder what we shall see today certainly not the valley of the kings, the balloons are restricted from going over that area now. we now have to follow the path of the smoke along the sugar fields maybe we shall go over the farmers houses try catching them unawares sleeping on the roofes or whatever the farmers get up to at 6.00 in the morning on the roof. they certainly will not see us coming through the clouds of smoke they made in the night, can catch them with their pants down or galabeyas up. so to speak,
click on the photo you may see a balloon.
